Keeping in Shape Through Basketball
As I get older, one of the hardest things I find time to do is exercise. Throughout my many years playing basketball in high school and college I learned the importance of staying in shape and staying healthy. So I’ve made it a point in my life to make the time for me and my family to get to exercise that we need to be able to keep our bodies healthy.
Basketball offers a great cardiovascular workout, and I try to get that work out in at least two times a week. My workout does not only consist of actually playing basketball, but running drills such as dribbling and shooting. In one workout I may shoot 300 free throws, then run the basketball court while dribbling 25 times without stopping.
Staying in shape is not easy, but it does not have to be boring. Working out in the form of playing a sport makes the time pass quickly, and makes it feel less like a work out a more like fun. I personally love basketball and have seen the great affects that it has on my health and life. If you personally do not care for basketball, do your best to find a sport or game that you do care for. Take the time out of your life, at least twice a week and dedicate part of your busy schedule to it.
Staying active will not only make you feel better on the outside, it will also help you on the inside as well. Lowering cholestrol, fat and blood pressure are just a few of the good side effects you can expect to see from weekly sports activities.
Some people will not be able to compete or interact in certain sports because of the pressure it puts on joints and muscles, if this is the case for you, you may want to consider at alternative sports such as swimming the offers great cardio, while being extremely easy on your joints. There are many other ways to stay fit besides a regular workout or exercise routine. Looking into these alternative ways such as playing a sport can really turn her life around and allow you to get back on track to a happy healthy life.
